WE'RE THE FISH BROTHERS

At Fish Brothers Board Company, the story begins long before the doors of our retail store opened. It’s a tale rooted in the small town of Bixby, where two brothers, Andrew and Alex, discovered their love for woodworking in the most organic way possible—right in the heart of their neighborhood. Growing up, we were surrounded by a tight-knit community and a family legacy that valued craftsmanship, precision, and the simple satisfaction of building something with your own two hands.

Our journey started in Mr. Wells’ wood shop, just up the street from our childhood home. The only rule he had was to clean up and close the door behind us—a rule we took to heart. That little workshop became our playground, a place where we honed our skills under the watchful eyes of our Grandpa, Dad, Uncle Craig, and, of course, Mr. Wells. These mentors didn’t just teach us how to use tools; they instilled in us a deep respect for the craft and a belief that anything worth doing is worth doing right.

As we grew older, our passion for woodworking didn’t wane. It followed us to Oklahoma State, where we both studied and dreamed of turning our hobby into something more. Even during college breaks, we’d head to Paxton’s and White & Sons to pick out the best lumber we could find, convinced that we could build it better than we could buy it. 

Fish Brothers officially began with custom cornhole boards. It started in Alex’s garage, where we spent countless nights sanding, staining, and perfecting each piece. As demand grew, so did we, eventually moving our operation to Andrew’s garage, where we continued to craft quality products with an obsession for detail. From 2015 to 2021, we worked tirelessly, driven by a simple philosophy: create something that lasts, something that could be passed down from generation to generation.

In November 2021, we took the leap and opened our retail lumber store in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This wasn’t just another step for us—it was the culmination of years of learning, experimenting, and dreaming. Our goal was to create a welcoming space where fellow woodworkers, both seasoned and novice, could find the finest domestic and imported hardwood lumber and plywood products.
